If you know someone who lives close by and works with you then you are lucky--and have no excuses for driving seperately. If you're not so fortunate than you should check out RideArrangers. It's set up by the Denver Regional Council of Governments and has been around for an impressive 30 years. They provide connections for carpooling and van pooling, even school carpools. Can't find anyone going your way? They'll help you set up a new pool.
Obviously joining a ride pool would save you money and reduce your carbon footprint. So why wouldn't you do it?
- Stranger Danger--Probably the thing that holds most of us back from carpooling is riding with strangers. Here's my corny (but true) advice: Remember that strangers are just friends we haven't met.
- Varying Schedules --Having a carpool is a great way to regulate your work hours. Most employers will not argue against that.
- Emergency Exit--RideArrangers has something called Guaranteed Ride Home that will arrange emergency transportation.
If you want to establish your own carpool read these tips from our friends up north to make it successful.
And if you do set up a car pool contact RideArrangers to register your car pool. You might find some new friends that are going your way.
