Help for Foreclosures

Colorado foreclosure were up 8.9% in the second quarter with 10,875 new filings. With that many homeowners facing trouble chances are that someone you know is looking at losing their home to foreclosure. And while our state may lead the list of the highest numbers of failing home loans we also lead in having the best help.

The Colorado Foreclosure Hotline (1-877-601-HOPE) connects callers with local housing counseling agencies for free assistance. The hotline itself is a nonprofit and is staffed by 26 nonprofit housing agencies.

When you call the hotline you'll be connected with agencies based on your zip code. You can get information on how to stop a foreclosure or even get connected with someone who will negotiate with the lender for you. They can also help you work directly with your mortgage lender.

The Hotline reports an 80% success rate in helping homeowners keep their property. Success rates are higher for people who contact the hotline early. Everyday counts during a foreclosure.
